Asos shopping -Nigeria

A full post dedicated to asos shopping has now become a necessity.
My first Asos order was in early 2012
I’ve made orders at least once a month since then.

This information isn’t provided by asos but based solely on my experience with shopping on there.

1. Asos is based in the UK.
They have other country sites but I’ve always bought on the uk site.

2. Asos accepts nigerian cards that have been issued on an international platform.
– mastercard and visa.
Don’t use verve cards. Verve is nigerian only.

3. Your cards will be charged in naira at the going rate of the pound sterling on the day you make your purchase.
Meaning- if the pound is 246 , that’s what you pay.
If its 290 ( it happened to me oh) that’s what you’ll pay.

4. Asos offers free shipping to Nigeria and free returns.
This means if you do not like what you get for any reason, you can return it.
You will pay for shipping back to them and scan your reciept and they will pay you back in pounds, credited to the card you registered on their site.
Kindly use nipost if you want to make returns. Its cheaper.

5.Free shipping for asos . You chose standard delivery at checkout .
your order will go through royal mail in the UK and then be passed on to NiPOst when it gets to nigeria.
You will likely get

A – a calling card from nipost to come to their office and pick your parcel
B. They drop it off themselves
C. A courier company calls or drops it off.

6 . You are responsible for custom duties incurred on your parcel.
The usual thing is for customs to open the parcel and inspect based on the form C22 asos uses to ship.
That means parcels can be opened officially .
By customs oh, Not nipost!
Some courier companies have now taken to charging exhorbitant rates in the name of duties incurred for shipping and customs.
Those are lies and attempts at defrauding you.
Ideally, for anything less than 30,000naira and personal use, import duties are waived.
This is from experience but I will confirm with the appropriate authorities.
I have never paid more than 2,000naira on duties and that was because the courier company was extortionist.
Express shipping is available at 20pounds. I’ve never used it
Someone who did recently got her order in 5days and was asked to pay 3,500 duties by the courier co.

7. It takes almost a month for most first orders to reach you.
Subsequently, the waiting time reduces.
Please be patient with orders.
Asos can be reached on twitter-
Handle is @asos and @asos_heretohelp
You can always send a message on the site as well.
Refunds and replacements are made if an order is truly missing.
This is one reason why I still use asos.

I hope this post helps someone out there, take advantage of the 50% off now and do some asos-ing.
I’m available to help with any issue regarding your orders, etc.

Update
I saw on the site today that only orders more than £500 would enjoy free express delivery.
Prior to now I got orders from about £80 free.
I guess Nigerians are hopping on asos and we have shown our spending prowess.
Issorai.
So yes, asos delivers to nigeria for free and you can shop with whatever amount you have.
Your purchase will come through and if it doesn’t, you can always get a refund or replacement.
I order frequently and my last purchases were £8 and £13 respectively. It doesn’t matter how much you spend.
Shipping is free.
There’s always a sale, discount or freebie.

xoxo

    1. Hi dear,
You may or may not be asked to pay. It depends on your local post office. Ordinarily small parcels don’t incur a customs duty.
They will likely ask you for some change or something in the range of 500-1000. Just be nice to them and open your eye small. If the post office does deliveries, you’ll get your stuff without anyone asking you for money.

  2. My experience with asos and custom duties; asos uses skynet to deliver to me and the custom duties and processing fees I pay are way different from what you describe here. It always ranges from 3600 and above. The most I have paid is 4600 and that is on free delivery. I tried the express delivery and I had to pay through my nose because they collected half of the amount of my purchase. It was terrible. Although the amount asked for is inclusive of delivery charges from Lagos to anywhere you are in nigeria with skynet.

    1. Oh dear. So sorry. Did you order a lot of stuff? Once it’s over 30000 u pay big time. Secondly SkyNet must be a rip off. Express delivery incurrs more bills I think I said that in my post. I always do standard and it arrives in ten days. SkyNet shouldn’t charge u any extra money.what is all that? If you pay for express and they ask u to pay extra for delivery outsidelagos when ur address on asos says outaidelagos then u should report them to asos. Raise the issue. Sorry about ur troubles. Nipost works u should try them

      1. I learnt my lesson, and I use standard delivery but even then, nipost/ems charges 3000 for weights 0 to 3kg or is it 6kg (can’t quite remember now) and I have to go pick it up from their office. Most of the things I ordered were just a lil under 30000 so I guess that explains why I pay 3000 and sometimes 4000 for custom duties. As for the delivery outside lagos, I do see on the receipt issued by skynet the amount they use to have it delivered to me so I just assumed that is part of what I pay for masked as custom duties. So whether nipost or skynet, I still pay between 3000 to 4000 buh I noticed that is not the case for river island. It is a flat rate of 20 pounds and it is delivered via dhl. So if it’s possible, maybe a suggestion could be made to asos to probably use dhl, just a thought.

      2. If you pay for express delivery it behoves on the company tpo contract their business with a provider that will deliver with he cost paid. They can’t come and ask u to oay for delivery in the name of custom duty and ur post office people are so greedy that’s craaayyy. I will suggest to them on twitter if that will work but u can make a point of letting them know about the other abnormalities too. When ur laod reaches three kg sha. LoL. I don’t know. That’s some weight. Try order in bits it helps. That’s what I do anyways. They come within days of each other and no duties

      3. Yeah I tried ordering in bits but it never gets to me. Twice now but I had a refund and a discount code(lol). That’s why when I order, it has to be 2kg at least. But it’s ok cos sometimes I have friends who want to order and we just do it together. I think I’ll have to go on twitter and tellem. Thanks alot.

  3. I placed orders recently plus 20 for express delivery ..total 135.20 and while placing the order, i didn’t see any part requesting for my phone number neither can i remember including it in my details during registration, whats the best possible way to know when to pick up even though i have been tracking it and it says it is yet to be delivered. I just want to know if they can contact me via alternative means (i have entered my mail in the section where skynet requires me to put my mail). Speedy response needed asap, thanks.

    1. Hi dear, they will locate you and bring it to your address. Somehow hey seem to have my number when they have my stuff. I think some two years ago you could put your number in there. All the same, you’ll get your stuff. The tracking doesntreally show where the stuff is in real time.

  4. I made an order on the 29th of August and received a call from someone in NIPOST to come and pick my package with N500, I was dumbfounded because I thought the order was gone since I didn’t choose express delivery.
I am making another order this night. 😀

  5. Great post and fantastic tips. Have used Asos thrice and I always picked Standard and usually get to me in within one week. I particularly hate the Skynet delivery too. I think they charge too much.

I ordered some stuff recently that I need to return and reorder cos I love it but they are a size higher. Would try Nipost tomorrow cos I’m afraid Skynet will be costly. And I totally concur to your point, it’s better to order in bits, it just may take forever to get to you.

.. thanks for stopping by. I’m glad u r enjoying asos as much as i do. Nipost surely is the cheaper way to go and it will definitely get to them. Dont tell then you want to use ems . Just say u want to return ur wrong item. Always check ur stuff right there when u pick if u can. Helps to just aerange return immediately if its wrong. I think u should buzz them first about it. In recent times they have said I shouldn’t return as the cpst for them is even high and they will send out the right item for u. @asos_heretohelp

  6. HOW DO I COMPLAIN TO ASOS?
Good day, I made two orders on the 24 Sept 14 (119.98 USD and 310.00 GBP) and another two orders on the 25 Sept 14(76.18 USD and 72.12 USD). Note, These were my first anly orders with ASOS. Problem is, On 30 Sept 14 i got an email from a certain Skynet World wide express demanding #42,928.65 Naira customs payment.

  7. Jesus christ! What on earth for ? I wonder who runs this skynet of a business. The problem is that asos just ships to yoh but you bear the cost of ur customs. So in effect if they call it customs then u r basically on your own but I guess a complain may help. Contact them http://www.twitter.com/asos_heretohelp and find skynet number and call them to return tour purchase that the bill is too much. Maybe tell asos u cant afford the customs let them take it bacj and see what happens

  8. Thanks for your advice. Skynet mailed me the customs invoice and i discovered its even worst than i thought. The 43K customs clearance is actually one for one of my orders(310GBP). which is approximately 83,000 Naira. Its honestly insane for them to expect to pay 43 k customs fees for an 83k worth parcel. When i called them they claimed items worth more than 40GBP are chaged 50%customs levy. Worst still, i sent a twitter to asos but their response was that customs charges are completely out of their control, They said i can return the order if i dont want to pay for the charges but who bears the costs of returning this item? Its my first time of using asos and its a complete nightmare for me. I’m really at a fix now.

    1. I think you should return the items completely. The custom charges are too much. U cannot pay that. Simple.you will not be the first to return items. Custom charges are out of their control. For an item worth $500 I paid 19k so skynet is a fraud. Simple. I have said this before anyway. And I repeat it skynet is a fraud.

  9. Hello there, i want to place an order of 220 pounds with standard delivery as i cant stand the extortion skynet made me pay last time after initially paying 20 pounds for express delivery. So basically, i want to know if its still skynet that will be receiving it or the nearest postal address since its 220 pounds worth of goods and i also want to know if i can get them in less than 2 weeks. I just need help on how standard delivery method works as this is the first time i’ll be doing standard. Will i still have to pay upon collection? Thank you for your anticipated response. Bless!!!

    1. Why don’t you split the order? Instead of making one bulk order for 220 pounds, you can split it to two orders of 110pounds each or even into three orders. The most you will pay at Nipost for each other is N500. If you make one large order of 220pounds and the total weight of your order exceeds 2kg, Asos will definitely ship your order via skynet and I have never heard anybody in Nigeria give glowing reviews for skynet delivery of Asos orders

And also it says dat it’ll get to me on or before 7th nov (next week friday) ..will it really get to me b4/on dat day?

Lord ! I know, too many questions! How I wish I read dis post before placing my order , I would have done it in bits , just that it might easily get lost in bits. ..

    1. You will have to pay or tell asos you dont want them jowever at this point they have no control over it. So reply them nd ask what you should pay. I have personally stopped buying directly to nigeria. I now forward all my purchases through my agent.

  15. I just finished reading your post and all the comments. ..I’m not comfortable with the idea of nipost.
I used to shop at aliexpress and whenever I go to the post office for my items, I am asked to pay five hundred for each package and it was so annoying. …I mean when you have tiny little packages and you are asked to pay for each…
now I decided to “asos” because they send it in the package and now its still the same nipost. …not so happy lol
please which agent have you been referring to and how much does it cost to ship through that agent?…
an urgent reply will be helpful. ..Thanks a bunch

I lucky sha ’cause ASOS did not include my phone number like I requested. The post office guys know me so they alerted me that it had arrived.
