Paypal petition on change.org

Hi loves,
Paypal doesn’t accept Nigeria as a payment country.
As such, if you live in Nigeria you need to get around so many loopholes to get your card accepted on some sites or even pay someone to shop for you.
We are saying enough is enough.
We aren’t fraudulent people.
We are honest, hardworking folks who are no different from the people of neighbouring Niger that paypal accepts.
I think it’s time we rose up and helped ourselves.
If we work together, we can be the change we want to see.
Do not underestimate the power of togetherness and sincerity.

There’s a petition on change.org to move paypal to bring their services to Nigeria.

My Holy Grail Products for acne

So I write about various stuff but I thought it wise to share the ones I always restock and use.
The ones I can’t live without
The ones that always go in my toilet bag when on a trip.

Face-
Neutrogena pink grapefruit scrub-
It’s gel like and has 2% salicylic acid.
Considering all my acne issues I don’t leave this behind unless I’m testing something new.
Gel washes seem to be doing better for me these days.
image

Clearasil salicylic acid pads-
2% salicylic which I use about 2-3x weekly
Comes with exfoliating pads.
When I don’t use a pad I just dip cotton wool into the liquid.
It really kills off a breakout even deep ones.
And it works for dark marks albeit slowly.
image

10%benzoyl peroxide cream-
The cream I find works better than the gel and a lot of poeole have attested to same.
There’s a gel formulation and a few people have complained that it doesn’t work as well as the cream.
I’ve used various brands-
Oxy10, clearskin 10, panoxyl I used for 4+ years.
These are available at any good pharmacy, supermarket or skin care shop.
Bought this one pictured at a pharmacy at ikea mall in the u.a.e. I stopped using it and i’m now hooked on effaclar duo plus.

Just incase you expected a long list i actually keep things simple with my face as i have a combination of sensitive and oily skin.

i stopped using  toner as i found it was achieving next to nothing.Later i discovered there was a problem with the ph mix of the ingredients. it was a clean and clear toner. im on the lookout to try something else and still investigating.

Until then, i virtually swear by these products and recommend without hesitation to anyone looking to control their acne.

i’ll have another post with products that can help dry acne prone skin.

All products available at invivo beauty shipping to lagos only, sorry.
Effaclar duo plus available here

Otherwise available at the pop -up in calabar – skinplus instagram page
Sometimes at Rita’s beauty, favourite supermarket
Next stores Abuja, perfect trust Abuja, ebeano supermarket lagos, casabella Abuja at silverbird Galleria.
In Ibadan there’s a makeup shop on secetariat road that links u.I and uch at the other end.
It’s a row of shops on the right as you approach it from u.I and has all these products in store.
You can also buy at food.co stores on same road.

Black Jamaican castor oil

image

I bought this oil sometime in 2013 and I’m still struggling with the how to of it.
I’m not particularly hair savvy when it comes to oils and hair.
I just know what works for me or has been until recently and then depending on if you’ve got a medical condition i ‘ll know what to do about that.
So for products on balding, thinning and other types of hair loss I know scientific stuff.
Oils are good and castor oil everyone raves about it’s amazing hair growth properties.
I found this a bit too thick to handle.
It went greasy on and greasy out.
Only noticed it was good for steaming or deep conditioning.
It’s supposed to be used on the scalp for massages and all but I didn’t do any of that.
I’ve given it out to someone but I’m yet to send it to her.
I hope she contacts me when she’s back to her base so I can send it down.
I hear the lavender jbco is better and i’m likely giving that a try soon.

Maybe I’ll start a hair mixology career soon, who knows.

Sleek s skincare a dab of lightening review

Hi guys,
I’m preparing and scheduling posts just so that  when it gets real busy for me a lot of the work would have been done already.
I still have so many products to review it’s crazy.
There’s plenty stuff to use out there and it really just boils down to knowing your skins needs and finding the products that will give you your money’s worth.

Here’s sleek skincare’s a dab of lightening
image

This product is for hyperpigmentation.
I especially like to think that because of the high vitamin c content it work wonders for sun damaged skin.

image

imageit’s a bit difficult to pry the cover of the bottle from the dropper so you have to be careful with that. i love that it comes in a dark bottle. shows how much science went into this product because the vitamin c will degrade on exposure to light. this means you should also store it properly when you buy.

The dropper helps to control the amount of product dispensed because this is oil. one tilt and it’s all gone.

image

i didn’t try it out but someone else did and i watched it work over a week.it was like magic. patches of sunburnt skin just cleared up and brightened.

Although sleek says you should use this for 3 months to notice considerable effects i think you’ll see it working earlier.

it has kojic aicd so i would’nt recommend using this on irritated red skin.

best used at night because thats when skin repairs itself better.

you can use the protect me sunscreen during the day.

if you are lightskinned and living in nigeria, please please and please get sunscreen or you’ll keep spending money unnecessarily.

it was said before we didn’t have options.

Now theres neutrogena sunscreen available almost everywhere with variations on the other ingredients.

some have salicylic acid, some have soy ,others have glycolic acid or a mixture of both.

they can be deep to the pocket so i advise to get best value for your money, use the sleek protect me along with this.
Smartshield sunscreen is also great. Non comedogenic assuredly.

Also best applied to particular areas of the skin like darkened bits, elbows et al.  you’ll probably use a bottle a week if you make this your body oil.then again you can do the mixology yourself, some olive oil or almond oil and this. if you find shea oil, good enough too as it has some spf of about 6  and then you can use this in the day but minimise exposure to sun.

A budget friendly available alternative for a lot of expensive vitamin c serums out there.

Costs 1000 from sleek bought while a sale was on.
Costs 1400 from sleek online here
V.I – 64b anifowoshe street off adeola odeku
Abuja- Bloomsbury plaza opposite kiss FM and just below gifty’s daughter.
Regular price would be about 1500 0r 1700 as i’ve seen on some sites. All sleek skincare products will be available at the pop-up in calabar from the 30th of may 2014.

Please note that you won’t find sleek skin products on the sleek site.
Sleek nigeria is a franchise of sleek uk and they now have their own skincare line
don’t go to sleek uk and usa you won’t find it.
If you need to try this and you are outside nigeria, shipping is about £20 I can help you buy and send.

La Roche posay Effaclar duo plus review cc @escentual

image

I typed up a post for this review but something happened to it and it’s lost somewhere in my memory card.
Can’t retrieve it.
Had to do another and that’s why it’s so late.

I got the la roche posay effaclar duo plus from escentual as a trial product
Its a full sized one at that.
Amazing.
This is my first promo product since I started blogging about skincare actively In november 2013.
I haven’t been long at the skincare blogging but I’ve been writing about all sort here and using stuff I’m still reviewing from way back last year.

The effaclar duo plus came as an absolute game changer because I used the effaclar duo last year and it left me sorely disappointed.
Here’s a pic from one of my first hauls from escentual.

image
Effaclar duo, effaclar k and vichy

All acne products.
Adult acne is a real problem I tell you.
I never had this issue in secondary school.
I turn 17 in university and boom, I’m breaking out madly.
Maybe it’s the suffering.

So back to our story.
I had this sent to my addy in the uk and shipped to me here (thanks chikey)
Sigh*

It comes in a plastic tube with a little nozzle like tip that dispenses a tiny blob of product per squeeze which is a great improvement on the packaging of the effaclar duo it’s predecessor.

La roche posay says-
Non comedogenic
Hypo allergenic
No paraben
Nickel tested- developed for people sensitive to nickel

what makes effaclar duo plus different?
Procerad is a patented ceramide that helps protect against the appearance of brown or red marks.
This is the new ingredient that differentiates the effaclar duo from the new plus.

The previous ones are
Niacinamide
Piroctone olamine- antibacterial that combats bacterial proliferation
LHa and salicylic acid -completely keratolytic actions
Targeted linoleic acid- regulate keratinocytes and target the follicle ( you’ll see this helped my dark spotted follicles)

I started using it about 8weeks ago and I made sure to stop all the other acne products I was using especially my salicylic wash which is quite good.
I was still using the pads 3x weekly.
After one week I noticed the clarity of the skin around my tzone.
This area is fraught with little dark pores and since I keep trying products it gets better and then not.
All the dark spots on my cheek area also became less noticeable.
For a week I was strolling around very barefaced.
The oil control is also good.
I stayed matte for about 6hours before any shine started and when used under my sleek pressed powder you can say I started using it as a primer as well.
I actually liked the effect it gave me better than my rimmel primer ( covers face) LOL. How I raved there couldn’t be anything better.
This wasn’t even marketed as a primer but you need to see the finish.

The breakouts stopped as well
Like amazingly clear skin for about 3weeks.
I even left my benzoyl peroxide at home when I went on a trip for 2weeks.
I trusted this that much.
I haven’t used the BP since I started the effaclar duo.

why you still need to live right while using the effaclar duo plus
I changed environment, had some fries for a week and used dove soap on my face.
I use olay on my face occasionally when I’m too tired to do the routine because it has coconut acid so it doesn’t clog my pores.
I also wore makeup and didn’t cleanse properly
I guess the onslaught was too much and the breakouts came back but they weren’t as red as they usually are, lasted a shorter period and wow! They didn’t leave scars behind.
This just goes to prove that even if topical creams alone won’t work good skin, you can actually save a lot by using the effaclar duo plus.
A good cleanser and this may be all you,ll need if you are cash strapped.

After 2major outbreaks on my cheek I resumed the use of the effaclar plus and it got them in control.
I however have two dark marks to show for it which are fading.
This is a breakthrough product because I have stubborn skin when it comes to hyperpigmentation.

Here’s the summary of what I have to say about the effaclar duo plus

It controlled my acne
It mattified my face
It works as a primer
It cleared my spots better than a lot of products I’ve used.
It decongested and calmed my skin
Have I found another holy grail product ?
Yes.
Will I buy this again ?
Yes.
Will I recommend to you ?
Yes.
If you have dry skin this product will also be awesome for you because it’s soothing and doesn’t cause peeling.

If you’ve got oily skin you still won’t go wrong here.
I think La roche posay should have called this QQ cream.
Whatever that will mean.
Seeing as almost all the alphabeths are taken.
What’s my verdict ? 5/5
Great product

Buy – escentual costs £15.50 there may just be a sale on. You never know.
Effaclar duo plus is available in Nigeria at skinplus,
183 parliamentary road extension,
Calabar.
Call or email to get one, we’ll ship to you.
For those who also need it in places where Escentual doesn’t ship, we can sort you out.
I wish I could give every person who has acne this product.
It should win some award this year because it truly is innovative and it works!

Luvhair boutique

Here’s a shoutout to my weave provider loveth.
I’ve known her for about 3years and been buying weaves from her.
Finally found someone who sells hair that’s affordable, doesn’t shed and keeps it’s own.
I know there are so many brands of hair out there but one thing is sure I can vouch for what she sells.
I haven’t had problems since I started buying from her.
I own a few hair pieces and I go through cycles of using them then braiding nonstop.
Currently trying to decide what to do with my 2inch natural undergrowth.
The natural hair life affords one the relief of saying goodbye to unending breakage.

Maybe it’s time to order a closure to go with the peruvian hair I got from her last year and I dare say that hair is tangle free.
I go for days without brushing it.
I sleep without a scarf or all those satiny things everyone says you should lay with and nothing has happened to the weave.
I haven’t dyed any of them before but I’m planning to do some black on the 14inches in the picture.

Before loveth I used to sell and use taj hair which is indian hair. The problem I had with it was the high maintenance.
It was beautiful but you had to brush it so much.
Just incase chinenye taj hair is looking for me. This is what happened- loveth hair boutique.
I’ve recommended her to friends and I haven’t gotten any complaints.
So here’s her contact
Hit her up and get yourself a good hair deal

Update- I dyed the virgin Brazilian with dark and lovely hair dye in black.
I think it’s a new product with olive oil.
The extensions put on some weight after that and the curls straightened out.
I used Hairven conditioner rinse out and leave on after the process.
The hair is stronger too. Hope it doesn’t go dry. 3days post install I haven’t had need to apply anything for moisture.
So far so good.

@B-glowing issues and Nordstrom doesn't really accept Nigerian cards

image

So I got this marketing email two days ago.
A spring beauty bag with 125 dollars purchase on bglowing.
If you see how I ran to the site.
Spent hours checking for stuff to buy.
I picked mostly Paula’s choice products and adara virgin coconut oil.
I just couldn’t wait to lay my hands on all the goodies in the bag.
Anastasia brow gel
The by terry baume De rose
The super goop.
The heir atelier make up prep which is available on bglowing only for now.
I spent a total of 8 hours browsing the site.
I got to checkout.
I couldn’t.
Tried two different MasterCard’s for where?
Sent an email to concierge who replied that maybe funds were held up on my card.
Shuo.
These people probably blocked our cards.
So sad. I just hope one of us didn’t go do something funny there.
Haven’t gotten any other replies after the first maybe because its a weekend.
I went to Nordstrom and behold, two goody bags.
One philosophy and one estee Lauder

3 philosophy products, the hope in a jar , the deo, some other thing can’t remember then estee Lauder eye repair infusion.
There were 3 fabulous high end samples.
The post wasn’t about Nordstrom but well, that’s where the story ended, or almost not. it seems we are banned from almost every departmental store site in the usa. just because your I.P address is nigeria, the site automatically cancels your order.

me thinks they shouldnt even allow us pay like b-glowing has of recent times.

quite sad if you ask me.
I commented on evachen’s instagram picture today saying ‘all those products just for you’ and she replied ‘
beauty is an addiction.’

I quite agree now seeing the lengths i went to just to get stuff
Hahaha.
Just so you know evachen Bannister is the editor in chief of lucky magazine usa and i adore her.
She’s myskincare mentor.
Im just like her *wink*
She uses a lot of skin products and zero or no makeup.

So, If you can get your purchase through, I think the spring bag is worth it.
